The longest program Eaglets has run. Over seven weeks, students worked with the second iteration of the kit and learned to use an ultrasonic distance sensor and a light-dependent resistor to steer a robot through an obstacle course.
Adding sensors changed what the camp could teach. A robot that follows a fixed sequence teaches sequencing; a robot that reacts to what is in front of it teaches conditionals, and gives a student a reason to care about the difference.
