Student-built robotics education

Build a robot.
Learn how it thinks.

Eaglets is run by high school students who design robot kits, write the curriculum, and teach the camps themselves. Students in grades 3 through 8 leave having built a working robot and understanding why it works.

How it works

Nothing arrives assembled

Every camp runs the same loop. A student builds the robot, programs it, watches it fail at something, and works out why. The failing is not a setback in the plan; it is the plan.

    Step 1: Assemble

    Build

    Put the robot together and learn what each part does: chassis, motors, sensor, and the wiring that connects them. Nothing is hidden inside a sealed case.

  2. Students sit with laptops and robot kits while working through a programming activity.

    Step 2: Program

    Code

    Write the movement, read the sensor, decide what the robot does with what it reads. Every line has a consequence you can watch happen on the floor.

    Step 3: Iterate

    Test

    Run the challenge, find where it breaks, change one thing, run it again. Debugging is where the understanding actually forms.

    The next Camp Code season

    Eaglets expects to run Camp Code again across Texas, with the same focus on communities that have the least access. Dates and locations are not set yet, so the interest list is how families hear first.

    Free at partner sites outside Allen. Allen sessions have carried a $50 enrollment fee, which covers the robot kit and every supply, with waivers available for qualified families.

The kit

The kit is the classroom

Students design this robot to be taken apart and understood, which is a different goal from making it easy to assemble. The wiring stays visible. The components stay reachable. Every part exists to give a camper something to ask about.

Impact

What the record actually shows

We publish what outside sources and our own records will support, and stop there. Where a number is still being reconciled, we say so rather than round it up.

Camp Code 2025

Camp Code took student-built robots and student-written curriculum to communities across Texas, funded by the Texas Workforce Commission through BEST of Texas Robotics. Campers assembled the robots themselves, programmed them, and worked through engineering challenges with high school instructors beside them.

The clearest outside account came from East Texas, where BEST Robotics' national executive director told a reporter that the camps are created by the Allen students, who write the curriculum and do the teaching. That is the claim we would most want verified by someone other than ourselves, and it was.

We travel to the students

Camps hosted in partner communities are free for the students who attend. If you have the room and the students but not the equipment budget, that gap is the one we exist to close.

Three ways to be part of this

Eaglets works because students turn up and do the work, and because schools and sponsors make it possible for them to.

  • Join as a technician

    Where most people start. Build and test kits, learn the curriculum, and help teach at camps. Three levels, each with a real bar to clear.

    Officers own the technical, financial, and programme sides of an organization that genuinely depends on them. Several seats are open.
